Bitcoin - everyone talks about it, but only a few understand what is technologically behind it. The serious games specialist IJsfontein Interactive Media now has the educational game Bitsnake developed, which aims to make the topic of blockchain understandable to schoolchildren in particular. The concept for the game was developed by the project sponsor of the educational initiative "expedition d - Digital Technologies | Applications | Professions” initiated in the Bitsnake is used.
The "expedition d" has been visiting secondary schools throughout Baden-Württemberg since April 29 with a two-story truck and offers around 11.000 schoolchildren orientation for the digital world of work every year. At 13 stations, the expedition vehicle invites the students to take a stroll through key digital technologies such as sensors, artificial intelligence, collaborative robotics, or virtual and augmented reality. At the “Blockchain” station, the Bitsnake, with the help of which Bitcoin transfers have to be collected and then secured in the blockchain by clever calculations. "In this playful and interactive way, we make the background and benefits of this technology visible and understandable for users," says Dr. Martin Thiele-Schwez, responsible project manager at IJsfontein Interactive Media.
The "expedition d" is another component of the program "Coaching4Future“With which the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, together with the Südwestmetall employers’ association and the Baden-Württemberg regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency, has been campaigning for the next generation of skilled workers since 2008. "Coaching4Future" informs students in the career choice phase about future opportunities and career opportunities in the so-called MINT disciplines and shows the diverse job profiles behind technical innovations. Particular focal points include information about engineering jobs in industry and about the opportunities and challenges of digitization in the professional world.
