Learning 4.0 - It is currently assumed that human knowledge is now doubling every five to twelve years. The amounts of data are also exploding at breakneck speed. Globally, 2,5 trillion bytes of data are generated every day. It can be assumed that this development will continue to accelerate as the technical capacities for storing, processing and transmitting data continue to improve.
This has a massive impact on the topics of education, learning and teaching. - In a world of constant distractions, the average attention span has plummeted. It is increasingly important for each individual to cope with the flood of information, to filter what is important and to prioritize information.
It is therefore becoming increasingly important to use and organize knowledge intelligently. However, efficient learning requires discipline, perseverance and self-organization. An important factor is the personal willingness to change. People in the age of the information society must learn to learn for a lifetime.
Lifelong learning, according to the generally accepted definition, is the continuous, self-driven acquisition of knowledge for personal or professional reasons. The aim of learning is the permanent improvement of knowledge, skills and competencies.
Digital tools, formats and methods such as e-, blended and adaptive learning, online tutorials, learning apps for smartphones or MOOCs are increasingly being used. Modern technologies enable learning to be individualized – in the future, acquiring knowledge will not be a question of money, but of personal commitment.
